Events in Saturday’s game two were remarkably similar to those of the series opener as the Los Angeles Kings squeaked out another 2-1 overtime win and are now 2-0 up in the best of 7 games for the Stanley Cup title.
The victory also extended the Kings' perfect record away from home in this postseason and the LA roster must be feeling almost bulletproof at this point as they continue to win at will.
It's up to New Jersey to buck the trend but I'm unconvinced they can manage it, a win tonight is pretty much vital, but they are already out at 6.50 to lift the cup.
Jeff Carter was the man this time to break the tie with the game winner but it was Drew Doughty's eye-catching individual effort in the first period that really lit up the match. Doughty is a prodigious talent but after coming in to the playoffs on the back of a disappointing regular season in terms of development he has been a huge factor for his team throughout the rounds. He is the only man with a point in both games so far and is 3.10 to add to his personal total in this one.
Tonight sees a sizeable shift in the odds on the game as well with LA now at home, not that it seems to matter to them too much seeing as the only games they have dropped have been at Staples Center. The Kings are 2.10 to win with New Jersey back at 3.20 to pick up a much needed win.
Best Bet: Los Angeles Kings to win including overtime at 1.60
